In the timeless city of Macondo, seven generations of the Buendía family navigate between love, oblivion, and the inevitability of their past and destiny. The best movies of the year (2024). I just finished the first episode. This could have been really terrible, but it isn’t. It’s always a challenge to translate inner thoughts, fears, doubts, and inner reactions to things like visions! The dubbing in English is pretty good, but I switched to Spanish with English subtitles and felt more comfortable. I’m glad they take their time at the table, because it’s important to set the scene, and even then it feels a little rushed, but at sixteen episodes I can live with that. I’ve read the book three times in my life, and it’s good. No expense was spared on the locations and sets, and that adds to the atmosphere. I’m looking forward to the questionable ethnic issues! No censorship, please!
